Locke's Downtime

  • Downtime following: Aftermath of the Temple of Doom
    • Day 1 – 2
      • Investigate what happened to Lavinia and Farshore. Attend town council meeting to reduce the fear and stall the abandonment of Farshore
      • Requested Clarrissa improve his Headband of Charisma +2 to Headband of Charisma +4 (Locke’s Cost 9k gp; time 6 days)
      • Requested Jarkarta imbue Protector idol with Spirit Resonance (Locke’s cost 10k)
      • Manthalay Meravanchi gives Locke a bloody hankerchief and a necklace of Lavinia’s (his birthday gift to her)
      • Telda Syren gives Locke a letter from Lavinia making him the Executor of Estate.
      • Sought out T-Ren and spoke with him. He was injured in the fight and has been healing steadily. Locke gives him a Cure Moderate potion, but he holds on to it and finishes healing naturally.
      • Locke talks to T’Ren about the letter with the Executor of Estate power she has granted him.
    • Day 3 – 4
      • Spend time with Tanaroa working on my faction
      • Locke learns a bit more of the Zotzilaha fellow during the Tanaroa trip.
        • Zotzilaha is all in favor of mounting heads/bodies of attackers on stakes as deterrents, returning a survivor to spread word, yet have them carrying infection diseases when sent back, etc. Below that, he is very accepting of emotional extremes. Doesn’t usually see a need to hold back and simply says what is on his mind weather it is nice or not.
      • Locke hunts wit the Speaker of the Tanaroa. He talks alot, always moving and gesturing. He has a hard time sitting still, like he is easily excitable or maybe a little hyperactive. We hunt down a creature during the night and slay it in hand to claw combat, using Yuan-Ti forms to help. After which the Speaker rip’s it open and the two of them share a drink of hearts blood. It would have been a dire tigetr that had gotten close to the village on its hunting rampage.
    • Day 5
      • Return to Farshore via teleport
      • Check in with William about scouting out via scrying the jump off points for to gain familiarity with them.
      • We spend about a day scouting jump points for familiarity purposes, scry, teleport, stay there studying area at length.
    • Day 6
      • Help around town. Visit with Town Counciler’s and see if they wish any messages passed back to Sasserine. The councilors would like a military contingent sent down or alternatively a merc group.
        • 1, petition the dawn council. farshore is a sasserine colony
        • 2, see if merivanchi wants to fund mercs
        • 3, use your letter to have the vanderborens fund mercs.
        • 4, various alternates based on the 3 above
          • Ramifications:
            → Council sends troops, city gets more of a presence/say in colony, merivanchi/vanderboren influence declines to a degree. reflected in city views in Sasserine.
            → Merivanchi hires mercs, they gain status/influence in colony reflected back in sasserine, vanderboren holdings diminish is relation
            → Vanderboren funding is same, reversed.
      • Had a discussion with Manthalay
    • Day 7
      • Spent a another day of scrying for the water isle location
      • Totaniuh arrives and has a solution for helping to track Lavinia if I would give up Saberhawk for now. Locke gives it to him. There are 9 speakers in the area, they watch, then fade into the background.
    • Day 8
      • Arrive back in the yard of Vanderboren Manor
      • Drop off the reports with the clerk of the down council.
        • we’ll assume arrival is in the morning. you can hit City Hall before council sessions etc are in and do your drop off
        • it’ll be recieved, and signed for. you’ll be asked a residence location while you are in town in case of questions or return messaging
      • Next up is to stop in with the bankers/business managers of the Vanderborens.
        • A few hours of knocking on some doors of affiliated holdings will get you sent to one Martinus Dubrare, who is the holdings administrator
        • Goal is to introduce myself, establish my bonafides as the Executor of the Vanderboren Estate, check on what funds are available to hire some short term – 1 to 3 months of mercenaries
        • martinus is a thin bookish fellow with spectacles. his office is a mess, with papers, scrolls and ledgers haphazardly everywhere
        • I will want to see if he can arrange for the hiring of the mercenaries of if I’d have to see that myself..see if there is a preferred group by the Vanderborens…I’d also be conveying that Manthalay Meravanchi would be matching the funds.
        • he seems stratled by your arrival, and stammers a lot but after showing your credentials, he says he can look into seeing what is available.
        • I’d let him know that I’d be seeking out a hiring hall and asking the groups to contact me via Martinus to set up an appointment. there is an adventurer/hiring organization. Zelkarune’s Horns. they may have info/contacts you can persue
        • on your leaving, you’ll find tren outside, speaking to another cloaked fellow who departs as you approach. tren will inquire where to next. Onwards to Zelkarune’s Horns. he’ll nod, and as you walk he will casually comment ‘your man reeks of fear.’ Hmm. Perhaps we should take a few minutes and see what happens. Martinus spends time rummaging in his office. T’Ren arranges for someone to watch outside and I ask Sting to hide inside and observe.
        • ZH has a mid to largish guild hall. it looks like one of those old english big game hunter lodges. trophys and taxidemy stuff everywhere. maps of structures as well as regionals all over the walls, books in piles, etc. its fairly lively even in the early afternoon, but you will have no trouble making your way to the duty clerk, who can answer your questions and handle your request. they take your info/job details, and make a a leaflet for it, after which they stick it on their message board. I’m also looking for a group that has good references. clerk will say that if theyre guild affiliates, they would be able to declare in good standing or not, and number of completed contracts.
        • good standing means they haven’t reneged on deals through the guild and completed tasks. more then that, you’d have to actually investigate each on an individual basis. Thank the clerk and tip him a few silvers.
        • Heading back to Martinus’s. Asking T’Ren to check in on what his man observed outside. T’Ren’s man is gone and Sting relays that the Martinus left after a half hour with some papers. T’Ren’s man left a rune of pursuit. I leave a note that Martinus can find me at the manor.
        • Stop by the ZH hall to modify the flier to leave intersest with the clerk there. Go back to Vanderboren manner and arrange for 3 temp housekeepers for the work.
        • tren will step outside a few hours later and return shortly afterwards. he’ll say that he has news. ‘Your man ran straight to a place in one of the neighboring districts. he pounded on doors for entry, and made a ruckus while appearing frantic, but guards turned him away. " "he then skittered to several other locations, ultimately taking a room in shadowshore’s district." The first place he went to…can we get the location/address? tren will give you a fairly long pause look. “House Lorchester Esssstate.”
